Sterling Turner Foundation boosts Scholarship Fund with $250,000 gift
To help to provide the most deserving students with the opportunity to attend TCU, the Sterling Turner Foundation of Houston has made a gift of $250,000 to support the University’s general scholarship fund.
The Sterling Turner Foundation was established by the late Isla Carroll Sterling Turner, whose first husband was Frank Prior Sterling, one of the founders of the Humble Oil & Refining Company (today’s Exxon Mobil Corporation).
The family has had the opportunity to see the value of a TCU education firsthand. Mrs. Turner’s great, great grandchildren, Isla ’07, Douglas ’10 and Stephen ’10 are Horned Frogs, and their TCU parents Christiana Reckling McConn and Stephen M. Reckling, are members of the Sterling Turner Foundation board.
“TCU has provided a great education and environment for our children, and we are happy to be able to provide the same great experience for other students,” Ms. McConn says. “We hope to create many new Horned Frogs with this gift!”
